Nintendo Wii: The story of The Little Console that could
Posted by on 12 Nov 2006

You don't need to be a prodigy of Einstein, to know that the Nintendo Wii will be huge. Whether it's Pokemon or Mario, we, as gamers are garunteed greatness. With millions of fanboys world-wide counting down the days until the console launches, you can be sure the Nintendo Wii will revolutionize the way people look at video games While you're grand parents may shun the Wii, due to it being "too high-tec", the people at Nintendo, sit in their cave, pondering over a pie chart showing the percentage of gamers over 20.

The problem Nintendo has been cursed with is the amount of gamers that are children. While the motto "hook them while they're young" applies here, lets face the facts, Nintendo's game lineup has been hindered due to the lack of adult gamers.
Surprisingly enough, Nintendo actually plans to attack the working force of the population by releasing games that appeal to an adult audience. Games like "Red Steel," the Asian gang killing action title promises to appeal to the sociopath in all of us.

Another strategy Nintendo has concocted is to release games close to launch which include characters from major franchises an example of this would be Super Smash Bros. Brawl.  Super Smash Bros. Brawl, is a game which hosts a collection of Nintendo characters fighting for supremacy in a number of stages originating in each character’s respective series. The Legend of Zelda, will also play a major factor in the Wii's sales.

The Legend of Zelda is being released on both the Gamecube and the Wii, Nintendo's way of paying homage to the dying Gamecube. The Legend of Zelda series has got to be one of Nintendo's most popular series, each game brandishing the "Legend of Zelda" name gives the gamer a scrumptious taste of excellence. The series reputation along with the Wii's revolutionary remote is guaranteed to bring in sales. One major strong point Nintendo has over its competitors is the fact that Nintendo is the most "economically friendly" video game company.

The Wii is set to retail the cheapest of the "next-gen" 3 consoles. The Wii controllers are also going to affect the sale of the console. Critics have squawked over the excellence of the controller. The bottom line is that Nintendo has, unlike in the past, poured a lot of money into advertising. The thing that may evoke many gamers’ attention is the fact that consumers are getting quality and quantity. I say this because the Wii boasts a massive repertoire of 62 titles around launch time. We can guarantee you one thing- the first few games will be crucial to the success of the console.

They have also taken time to carefully plan out the Wii's overall sale scheme. Something Sony and Microsoft have failed to do.  I guess we can consider the Wii, with all its amazing benefits, "the average gamers’ Bible."
