Shigeru Miyamoto is undoubtedly one of the most important people in the video game industry. He is considered by many the founder of modern video games, his characters are always original and full of life, and the majority of his franchises are still going today, as strong as ever.
It is hard to imagine Nintendo or my childhood without Miyamoto. He is quite possibly the best games creator who ever lived. He has created the majority of Nintendo's most popular franchises. From Zelda and Mario, to F-Zero. There appears to be no end to Shigeru Miyamoto's talent, and now he has hit 55, he is still going as strong as ever.
Growing up Miyamoto enjoyed drawing and painting pictures, a hobby he has obviously put to great use in later life. Miyamoto is a perfectionist by nature, he will post-pone the release of a game until it is perfect. Otherwise he will not launch it. A recent example of Miyamoto's perfectionism is the newest Zelda game in the series: Twilight princess.
Miyamoto is of course most famous for "Jump man", from the original donkey kong, for which he created the music on a keyboard himself as well as inventing the characters. The most famous of which we have come to know as Mario. A character who's career has spread over a hundred games, from sports to education, Mario has done everything. He is perhaps the most durable video game character ever and he is a creation of Miyamoto. The extraordinary man, who made Nintendo what it is today. Aside from Mario he is the mastermind behind the Legend of Zelda, regarded as one of the greatest video games of our time, and F-zero, a creatively designed racer which simulates high speed for the player, as well as countless other classic Nintendo franchises such as Kirby, the lovable pink ball who absorbs his enemies. To get some perspective, the majority of the characters from Smash Brothers are his creations. His current position at Nintendo is Senior marketing director.
On behalf of all the staff here at SnesClassics I would like to wish Miyamoto a very happy 55th Birthday.
P.S. Keep the games coming. |
