Wii Fit priced for Europe - and it ain’t cheap(er) than US, JP
Posted by Rated on 28 Feb 2008

After confirming earlier on this month that Wii Fit would be weighing into Europe on April 25, Nintendo has confirmed today that the software (bundled with the Wii Balance Board accessory) will cost £69.99 GBP in the United Kingdom and EUR €89.99 across the rest of Europe.

The Wii Balance Board, which arrives packaged with every copy of the game. It senses weight and shift in balance in any direction and therefore by standing on the Wii Balance Board during activities allows players to follow along to movements ensuring they have full control of the on-screen activities. This allows personal improvement goals to be set to effectively help you and your family to train and stay fit.

Wii Fit allows up to eight players to track the progress of their fitness over time via the Wii Fit Channel. Once the Wii Fit Channel is added it enables users to not have to insert the Wii Fit Disc into the console in order for the Wii Balance Board to scale your weight to calculate your BMI, measure the centre of your bodily balance, check how long you have been exercising for, and conduct a balance test in order to calculate your Wii Fit Age.

There are 4 training categories including Aerobic Exercises, Muscle Workouts, Yoga and Balance Games. There are over 40 activities in all including Hula Hoop, Press Ups, Ski Jump, Rowing Squat, and various popular yoga poses.

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime recently claimed that Wii Fit would arrive in America priced at under $100 USD. At the current exchange rate, that means UK and Europeans will be paying the equivalent of around $139 USD and $136 USD respectively. Hardly seems like a fair deal, but after so many years of being charged higher prices for games and accessories, it should hardly come as a surprise.
