Axelay Description Axelay is a 2D shoot 'em up video game developed by Konami of Japan for the Super NES (SNES). It was launched on September 11, 1992 in Japan, later in that month in the United States, and on September 30, 1993 in Europe.

The game story begins with a scene where alien ships are invading the Earth-like Corliss and destroy it entirely, so that it falls to the Axelay ship to fight with the alien invaders. The game earned significant popularity for use of the SNES mode 7 and parallax effects in comparison to other games at the time. Such visual effects combined with what was then seen as an advanced selection of weapons available as well as the music score made Axelay into a popular shooter for the SNES console.

Axelay is a really cool game. The music has the regular fly to the boss beat then kicks it up a notch when you get to it. There a few weapons and few stages. The replay value is also low. The graphics are really impressive, the ship and enemies have really good detail and the stages.

The game has two modes of flight, from the bottom of the screen to top, this makes the ship look a little bulky. The other mode has the ship moving from left to right. The ship looks and plays like Gradius (Snes version). The boss start of fairly easy to bead on normal, the stages remain the same and can be a little tricky to fly through. Overall a must have for the Super Nintendo.

But that was not as easy as it sounded. At some point in the game the stages become harder, especially if you're playing a high difficulty level. But after a few tries I beat the game and that was it for me..

The graphics are all what you can expect from a retro shooter. The sound and music are good enough to keep you in the mood for the entire game.

Axelay is a very nice shooter and for those who are looking for just plain shooting fun then this one will do fine!
