Secret of Mana Description
The main protagonist of Secret of Mana is the knight, who is supported by the spell-casting girl and sprite child. While the three release versions of the game do not have a default name for each of the characters, the Japanese instruction manual refers to the knight, girl and sprite respectively as Randi, Purim and Popoie (or variants thereof).
The origin of the heroes' names is somewhat cloudy: they were possibly bestowed by the Japanese Gamest Magazine previewing the game, then followed upon by other magazines and subsequently by Square. Regardless of origin, the gaming community tends to refer to the three protagonists by these names, as does this article.
Rather than use the traditional turn-based battle system of games like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, Secret of Mana uses real-time battles akin to the Legend of Zelda series' games, but with the statistical-based elements of the RPG genre and a unique "ring menu" system. In addition, with its brightly colored graphics, expansive plot, and soundtrack by Hiroki Kikuta, the game has been called one of the greatest video games ever made.
Secret of Mana - Player Reviews & Feedback
About Secret of Mana
Square's action-RPG is part Legend of Zelda, part Final Fantasy, with an innovative three-player mode thrown in for good measure. Fondly remembered by Square fans worldwide, Secret of Mana continues to be one of the few games that successfully combines RPG elements like character development, upgradeable weaponry and an epic story with fun battle action.
Add to that the lush graphics and memorably score and it's easy to see why Square's masterpiece belongs on many critics' best-list.
The best game on the SNES
Have you played Secret of Mana? If not, you don't know what you're missing! It's an overhead view adventure game like Zelda, only with 3 players! You have to get a Tribal Tap (or one of those plug in things that come with Bomberman) to use 3 players. Makes you fork out a little more money, but definately worth it! Having a 3 player adventure game isn't a good enough reason for you? Well then, onto the review!
Simply beautiful. Everything is so lush and colorful! Not only that, but the colors are very bright as well! The animations are well done as well, and the facial expressions for the enemies when they're attacked are great, some even funny! The magic spells are all quite flashy and a lot of fun to watch!
One of the Best
This game was made by Squaresoft on the Super Nintendo around 1994.Secret Of Mana has got to be one of the most unrecognized great games on the SNES, it has many great unique features. Take a look.
The graphics were well done,as well as the characters and enemies. There really isn't much to complain about in this part, everything on this part was well and carefully done. All the character and enemies were animated well, you should have basically no problem seeing your character attack a monster.
The sound effects in this game are great, from swinging your sword to a wolf howling the sounds are magnificent. This game has many varied and well done music pieces, not of them are annoying at all,the music fits each dungeon and/or village perfectly. If you really like the music, you could try and find the music CD for it,or you could simply download off somewhere on the internet.
