Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles In Time

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Reviews
Turtles in Time was my absolute Favorite Team Action/Adventure game because it kicked serious ...! Hopefully, most of you have heard of them but if not, you play as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or Leonardo, Donatello, Rafael and Michaelangelo. Your mission = stop the Shredder from conquering and destroying the world as you chase him through New York City to the sewers and through time (hence the title).

In this one, you start out in New York City where the Turtles live battling many of the series best enemies from Baxter the Fly to Krang to Slash the Evil Turtle, Bebop and Rock steady and of course the Turtles enemy # 1, the Shredder.

I loved this game. Turtles in Time played exactly like the original TMNT the Arcade Game but with new and better and more challenging boards such as the Prehistoric board where you have to compete with Foot Soldiers running you down with Dinosaurs and the Night Riders board where you fight Krang on futuristic skate boards.

This was one of the last Turtles games but it was easily the best. I'd get this one even if you're not a fan of the Turtles, you'll still enjoy this one.

Almost as much fun as the first one

It's too bad Konami never released an arcade-perfect version of the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game on the SNES. Actually this one isn't a perfect translation either, as it's missing some digitized voices.

A playable April wouldn't have hurt either, but at least she doesn't get kidnapped.
Anyhow, although the title may be (sic) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time, that's only because there were three TMNT games previously released on the original Nintendo Entertainment System (not counting Tournament Fighters).

This is actually the second game released in the arcades.
Now for the actual review. The game takes you through, uh, I don't know, 15-or-so levels of repetitive non-stop action (double entendre? you decide). As usual, you get to choose between Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael (sorry, Venus, you weren't here yet).

The subtitle, Turtles in Time, comes into play when you almost defeat Shredder and then are hurled back through time to 100,000,000,000,000-or-so B.C., then forward to 15??, 18??, 20??, 2???, then back to 1993 where you fight Shredder for supposedly the last time. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Very good, but not as good as Final Fight

This is one of the best in the "side scrolling beat 'em up" genre. I consider Final Fight and Streets Of Rage the tops in the genre, but TMNT4 gives 'em a run for their money. Great graphics, great sound (you even hear the real TMNT theme song [complete with actual singing], albeit for about 10 seconds when the title screen comes up), and great game play makes this a winner.
