Street Fighter Super Nintendo Review

Street Fighter 2
Street Fighter Reviews
I wouldn't call this the best fighting game on the SNES, but it's definitely the one that'll make your jaw drop the most. The Street Fighter Alpha series was the next iteration in the saga after Street Fighter II, and brought along with it much more visual flair in the form of animation and flashing effects.

Thanks to a special chip that allowed for massive data compression, Capcom and Nintendo were able to port Alpha 2 over to the SNES as the console entered its final Christmas in 96.

A Must Buy

The story: M.Bison set up another Street fighter tournament and invited the best fighters. Gameplay: You can choose either turbo mode or normal mode. Turbo mode is the faster version and you can choose how fast you want the game to be, 0 for a slow game and 10 being extremely fast. Normal mode is the snes version of champion edition. To win all you need to do is deplete your opponents energy bar in a best of 2 out of 3.

In the one player mode, there are 12 characters to beat if you want to win the game. When you beat M.Bison you get to see your fighter's ending sequence. At anytime in the game player 2 can join. Every 3 fighters there are mini games to be played - this is the order - car smash, brick smash, and the new barrel smash. 2 player mode is highly addictive when you're playing with a friend, and you won't put your controller down!
The best of all the upgrades.

When I bought my used 3D0 system from buy/sell shop for $40 canadian, I thought I got it for a bargain. But with the system, I needed to get games to play on it. So I searched high and low for the one 2D fighting game that is best for this system and that game is Super Street Fighter II Turbo.

The Street Fighter Days

I remember back in the beginning of the 90s. I think it was the summer of 92 or 93. The local "hang-out" place had just been built, and in the back room a wondrous box was set it. It was the arcade version of Street Fighter 2, my introduction to the beat'em up genre (disregarding some not so successful ones on Commodore 64). Both my friends and I used to spend whatever money we could find on that machine, because whoever had the highest ranking on the high-score was automatically "the man".

Since then the Street Fighter series has developed quite a bit, having both an extensive amount of games and even a motion picture to show off. I have owned a few of the Street Fighter games, and it has seemed like Capcom never deviated a lot from its original formula; lots of original characters with both advantages and disadvantages, tons of cool moves and combos to practice, exciting looking locations - all depicted in cartoon-like graphics. Capcom did try a variation where they had more realistic looking graphics, but the consumers have always seemed to favor it all colorful and nice.

Revival of the Fittest

Choosing from over 16 of the original Street Fighter cast?no SFIII or Alpha characters here?you battle in the classic one-on-one style with three turbo speeds and the ?beat-up-the-car? and ?barrel-busting? mini-games. You can also unlock several cool single-player modes, like survival, timed attack, beat the bosses, and fight Akuma?but this game is best when you?re battling another player via the link cable.
