Lufia & The Fortress of Doom Description

One of the Best

Super Mario Kart is the first video game in the Mario Kart series, released in 1992 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Players race go-kart's as one of eight characters from the Super Mario Bro's. series. This game gave birth to the sub-genre of kart racing. It features impressive graphics for the time thanks to its use of Mode 7 texture mapping.

The music was composed by So yo Oka and Taro Panedo, and included some sequences and variants of Koji Kondo's works, though he had no direct involvement in the project.

An Absolute Classic!

BOY was Super Mario Kart a popular game back in the day. "Mario is now racing! Along with all his friends!" was the thing people were saying to each other in my middle school. Of course the Sega fans weren't saying that- they could care less about the game or anything to do with Nintendo and all of Nintendo's fans!

Let's move forward to the year 2004. Is it still a good game? Yes, but in my opinion, ONLY on 2-player mode. I think the 2-player battle mode (where you defeat your opponent by hitting them with turtle shells) is quite fun and the main reason to own the game.

The thing is, I don't see ANY of my high school friends anymore. I'm all alone now, so none of those friends come over anymore to play the battle mode with me. I'm forced to play the game by myself, and as a 1-player game, Super Mario Kart just isn't very good. Too many awesome racing games have come along since Super Mario Kart, including the newer Super Mario Kart on the Gamecube (which I haven't played, but I can only assume is MUCH better on 1-player mode). What I'm trying to say is that the 1-player options don't really have anything interesting about them.

However, Super Mario Kart was pretty fun when I was younger. And, you know, it probably remains a total blast to play on 2-player. But if you have no one to play the game with... you better not get it.

A Classic Racing Game for a Classic System

There are 3 different modes you can play in this game: Mario GP (Grand Prix), Time Trial, and Battle Mode. In Mario GP you can choose form eight different characters form Nintendo games: Mario, Luigi, Princess, Yoshi, Toad, Koopa, Donkey Kong Jr. and Bowser. Then you can choose to race in the Mushroom Cup, the easiest, Flower Cup, or Star Cup, the hardest in 50cc, 100cc, or 150cc mode. 50cc mode is the easiest to race in, but in 100cc and 150cc the computer gets a lot faster and more challenging. After you win a Cup you will earn a trophy. If you beat every Cup you will unlock a secret cup which is very difficult. In GP you can play one or two players.

In Time Trial mode you race in any course from the Mushroom, Flower, Star or Special Cup and try to set records for the fastest lap and/or race.

In battle mode you and a friend choose a character to battle against each other. You drive around a course trying to pop each other's 3 balloons. You pop their balloons by shooting green or red shells at them or throwing banana peels at them. This mode is very fun especially if you get tired of GP mode.

If you are looking for a great classic racing game for the Super Nintendo, Super Mario Kart is the game to get.
